U.S. Calls on China to Respect Tibet

In response to the attempted self-immolation of two Tibetan monks, the U.S. again call on the Chinese leadership to respect the rights of Tibetans.

The U.S. State Department in Washington said it was very concerned about the reports. China must protect the «unique identity» of the Tibetans. Beijing must grant journalists and diplomats access to the Tibetan area in China.

On Monday, two young Tibetan monks tried to set themselves on fire in protest against Chinese rule over the Tibetans.
