Miss China Luo Zilin (罗紫琳) is training to be less Chinese for the Miss Universe pageant to be held on Sep.12 in Sao Paulo. In fact, she is now called Roseline.
On September 12, 89 contestants from around the world will compete for the title of Miss Universe in 2011. Among them, Luo Zilin, Miss China, currently lives in the United States where she worked with her coach Yue-Sai Kan (靳羽西), the Chinese Oprah Winfrey.
Ms. Kan told Luo Zilin to be “less Chinese” in order to increase the chances of winning the contest. “Our girls are often too Chinese for Miss Universe,” says Ms. Kan. “For Miss Universe, she must become more universal.”
Thus, Luo Zilin, Roseline now has the chances to speak to persons who are not Chinese, and must learn to “be more cunning and more outgoing,” announced Ms. Kan.
The efforts made by Miss Luo, who hopes to win the title because “this year we celebrate sixty years of the People’s Republic of China and it would be great to mark the event with the election of a Chinese Miss Universe.”
