Central Government to Invest 138.4 Billion Yuan in Tibet

By 2016, Chinese government will invest 138.4 billion yuan in Tibet to build a series of infrastructure projects, said the official Xinhua news agency. This investment includes 226 construction projects totaling 330.5 billion yuan.

These projects include the construction of buildings for public services in the region, transport infrastructure such as railways, roads, airports and power plants. The announcement came during the visit of Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping in Tibet, who came to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the peaceful liberation of the region.
