Wen Jiabao Praised Successful Economic Ties Between London and Beijing

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao stressed Sunday on the successful economic colloboration between London and Beijing.

While Wen Jiabao, who arrived Saturday night, started the official program of his visit to Britain, the second leg of his European tour, Beijing said that the opponent Hu Jia, 37, had returned home after three years in prison.

Former British flagship, the MG car factory at Longbridge, is under the control of SAIC, the largest manufacturer of China. Wen Jiabao has emphasized economic ties between the two countries, symbolized a new model.

The MG6 was designed in the UK, manufactured in China and assembled in the UK, he said.

This fruitful cooperation for the production of MG6 and other vehicles is a symbol of friendship between China and the United Kingdom, said Wen Jiabao, who is accompanied by a delegation of business leaders.

The MG6, the first new model released under the MG brand in 15 years, also marks the first step of SAIC on the European market.

SAIC has been a pioneer for Chinese investor in the UK. I hope other companies will follow suit in China, noted the British Secretary of State for Trade, Stephen Green.

Before going to the Longbridge plant, Wen Jiabao, a great lover of Shakespeare, had made a detour to Stratford-upon-Avon to see his birthplace and attend a performance of some of Hamlet.
