Chinese President Hu Jintao has called for deepening and broadening strategic cooperation with Kazakhstan. He was received by Nursultan Nazarbaev, the head of state, on arrival at the airport Sunday in this capital.

For the Chinese head of state, whose visit to this country lasts until next Wednesday, Kazakhstan is a neighbor and strategic partner. Both countries are members of the SCO and the positive progress links to mutual interest, he said.
Hu also spoke in favor of the final regulation of the boundary issue, which has lagged in time, and the signing of a bilateral good-neighborly friendship and cooperation.
He stressed the formation of a joint commission at the deputy ministers level and improving the legal basis for the advancement of a strategic partnership.
Trade between the two countries reaches 20,400 million dollars, or nearly 50 times the level at the beginning of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties, he said.
