Chinese Film “Buddha Mountain” Awarded Best Film of Casa Asia Film Week

Chinese film “Buddha Mountain” (观音山) directed by Li Yu, Sunday has been named best feature film in the official section of Casa Asia Film Week 2011.

“Buddha Mountain”, performed by Fan Bingbing, Sylvia Chang, and Bao Zhenjiang, is a drama shot in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, scene of one of the most violent earthquakes in history in 2008. The winning film is a tragicomic portrait of contemporary China’s youth through the story of three friends and a former opera singer.

Between the drama and comedic moments, the film unfolds the reasons in the present life and past of each of the protagonists.

The festival is celebrated for the first time in Barcelona. This year it had 30 films, eleven of which have competed in the official section.
