Chinese Engineers Kidnapped by FARC in Colombia

The Colombian authorities are searching for four Chinese technicians working for a multinational oil company, these Chinese citizens are allegedly kidnapped by the FARC in southern Colombia, said police.

Colonel Carlos Vargas, commander of police in the department of Caquetá, told foreign journalists that this case is handled by Task Force Omega (fusion of armed forces to go after the FARC commanders.)

The four employees of the oil company British Energy Emerald were taken captive by guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) when traveling between the rural towns of San Pablo and Los Pozos, municipality of San Vicente.

According to Colonel Vargas, neither the victims nor the kidnappers have contacted the oil company or their families, he believed the kidnappers are from group “Teofilo Forero, ” one of the most active factions of the FARC and acting in south.

Meanwhile, “Army troops and National Police personnel have reinforced the operational area” in that region, about 300 kilometers south of Bogota, said the Air Force.
