A poster “Bloom in Harmonious Society” in the city of Taizhou, where Hu Jintao was born. Hu spent his first 17 years in Taizhou (泰州). However, Hu claimed that his hometown is Jixi (绩溪).

People said Hu had gloomy memory of Taizhou in 1978 when he came back from Qinghai to attend his father’s funeral. The only thing Hu Jintao asked for from those local bureaucratic officials was rehabilitation of his father, eventually the result turned out to be nothing but humiliation and embarrassment in the cold mist of post-cultural revolution. After that Hu had never came back to Taizhou.
